Our French Lesson Plans Are Based Around Classic Stories

We use classic stories that children are familiar with because they already have an understanding of them. This makes teaching the French version so much easier.

The lesson plan units include many ideas for hands-on activities and games that you can ask the parents to use at home with their children. Engaging parents is fabulous in all respects, but perhaps the most important effect is that children have a role model and a learning companion.

Many of our customers have never taught before but can effectively use our lesson plans because you have a script. You can easily modify it to suit your needs.

Besides the story-based curricula, you can purchase our classic bilingual story versions as books with audio, storybook apps, or as an eStorybook subscription. These products are for all ages.

Hear native speakers reading the stories. Or read the stories aloud without sound.

Using Songs and Games at Home and in the Classroom

We have 2 French products for preschoolers that contain songs and games: Play and Learn French with Audio CD and Hop, Skip, and Sing French (Audio CD) to learn French.

While our French lesson plans spell out which songs to use, these products are great for parents too to provide support at home for the children.

Parents, learn the songs, games, and rhymes and use them interactively with your children.

Our Play and Learn French with Audio CD (part of our Parents’ Choice Award-winning series) teaches fluent French in a fun, natural way. It’s great for the classroom and home.

For parents, at the core of Play and Learn French are 50+ everyday conversations between French moms and dads and their young kids. These conversations will help you fine-tune your ear to fluent, everyday French that you can use as you go on with your daily routines with your child.

The book also has many songs and games, including two board games at the end of the book.

Children Love Acting and Using Props at Home and the Classroom

Pretend or dramatic play is a particularly good way to learn languages. Isn’t it fantastic that preschoolers LOVE it?

You could easily say that preschool IS the age of pretend play. Some of your students will even come to class dressed up in costumes!

Pretend play may look simple, but it is actually a very sophisticated type of play. Young children begin to detach themselves from the here and now characteristic of the toddler years and start exploring important things such as

• symbolism (e.g. this is a pretend farm, not a real farm)
• cultural influences on people’s behavior and roles (e.g. what moms do, what doctors do in a particular culture)
• personality and emotions, etc., etc.

And all of this takes place through the medium of their powerful imagination!

One important thing to know is that since young children have not yet developed a high degree of symbolic thinking. They depend on props for their dramatic play (e.g. costumes, toys that resemble the real thing, and other props).

We have ToonFlips© Props to help get your preschoolers involved in a story. (These props come with our curriculum sets.)

The ToonFlips© help the children pretend to be a character from the story. They also act as cues to tell the children who is talking.
